Citizens formed the Society in just in time to help with Carroll County’s sesquicentennial and our nation’s bicentennial. the spring of , Richard D. Arnold, William Bacon Stevens, and Israel K. Tefft, all Savannah residents, founded the Georgia Historical state legislature in Milledgeville incorporated the organization in December of that same year.
